What is Covid-19?
Covid-19 is a virus going around the world at the moment. It started in China from people eating bats! From China it went crazy and basically spread around the whole world. Luckily for the people in China they were able to manage it quite quickly, because they are a rich and popular country. The country that is suffering the most at the moment I think would be Italy. Italy is struggling to find enough medical help and are pretty much choosing who lives and who dies.

What does Covid-19 stand for?

What is covid-19 doing in new zealand.
Covid-19 started off in Nz 28th Feb 2020 no one really panicked until cases started spreading quickly.The government made alert levels up to 4 alert level one is...It is in New Zealand but contained, level two is...the population has increased of corona but not by much and people that are sick as self isolating, alert level three which is what it is today is...no big gatherings of people, schools have shut down, you are not allowed to do unnecessary travel and try not to meet up with other people unless needed, The highest alert level is 4 and that is what new zealand is going into at 11.59 PM 25.3.2020 which means the whole country in in lock down and all non essential shops are closing, you are not allowed to meet up with people or go fishing or shopping as a family just one member is allowed to go for essentials and needs.

24.3.2020
Today I experienced some crazy people panic buying at the mangonui 4 square. I was there with my Aunty and little cousins, and me and my cousins sat in the car while Aunty grabbed a few bits. While we sat in the car we saw some people with masks and trolleys just throwing all the food in the back of their car then rushing in for more. We were there for about 5 minutes and we saw them do 3 full trolley loads and no doubt went back for more one of the trolley loads was just TOILET PAPER but the rest was pasta, sugar, biscuit ect.(greedy people) When Aunty got back to the car we told her what we had seen she was not suprised apparently the same people were blocking off iles so people couldn’t get past ( I know dumb right), a even dumber thing was that the people were wearing their masks bellow their nose i mean what good is that.

Today was basically our last day of freedom so we decided to go fishing. Before we went we decided to go to mangonui to see if other boats were out so we weren’t the only ones, we arrived and it was like fishing day there were so many boat trailers so we rushed home got the boat and went out fishing for the day.

26.3.2020
Yesterday I found out that there were 78 new cases of Covid-19 overnight which brings New Zealand's cases to 283. The Doctors and everyone thought corona only killed older people around the seventies or unhealthy people with asthma or heart problems, but a few days ago it killed a healthy 21 year old.

27.3.2020
Today there were 85 new cases, the virus is increasing bit by bit every day. Northland cases have increased which means it is getting closer to home. Today we had 37 recoveries which hopefully that number increases and we can control Covid. The saddest thing I found out today is that netball might be cancelled for the whole year :(

Action World

Action World!!!

Yesterday I went to action world in Paihia with my class.We went because we deserved a end of year trip. Their was many activities and the ones I enjoyed the most were... The tight rope because I was one of the only kids that made it,I also liked the Fighting pole it was a game where you walk along a pole and you have a Battle stick and you are trying to knock your opposite off.

Marketing day

Marketing.

This term I have a class called Marketing day.Marketing day
is a short course where we plan to make stall and sell stuff this time we sold items at the
#Talent quest. For my stall I was with my friend Aramia,we had a goal to make the most money.

Planning.

Unfortunately there is lots of planning when marketing and you can't just rush into it.
First steps was deciding what we wanted to sell,we choose to make Slime,Scrunchies,Toffee,Lolly bags
donuts and Toffee apples.

Buying.

Buying all the ingredients was the most painful part because you have the feeling you won't make
the money back. All together me and Aramia spent $170 on supplies we spent
$45 on clear glue(a gallon)we spent $50 on glitter,beads and shaving foam(
I Know we went a bit over the top)and $62 on ingredients for baking.

Making.

Making would have to be one of the best parts first we decided to make slime.
Slime making was very fun and messy,next we made toffee and toffee apples
sadly both of those failed because we didn’t cook it long enough so it was all crumbly
(straight to the bin),the reason the toffee’s failed is cause we put food colouring in and couldn’t
tell when it was cooked.

I tried again the next day with no food colouring and succeeded!The lolly bags
were easy we just had to put lollies in bags.Last but not least is the donut the donuts sold
perfectly and they were easy and fun to make and decorate.

Selling.

Selling was the best part over all everything sold out and people came back asking if their was

anymore a teacher even made an order for a couple of scrunchies.Over all sadly we didn’t make the

most money but we bet the group we wanted to the most we made $342.10 the group that made

the most made $510. And the group we wanted to bet the most only made $160.

One day there was a lion that was sleeping under a big tree.There were 5 mice the needed to get past so they climbed over and quickly dashed away,when the last little mouse climbed across the lion the lion woke up and put his paw on the mouse.The mouse begged and begged for the lion to let him free.The lion decided to let him go and the little mouse raced off.


One day the lion was walking through the forest and stood in a trap and was caught in a net he couldn’t get out so he roared and roared the little mouse heard the roar and knew it was the lion so he went to help the mouse chewed threw the rope and set the lion free after that the lion and the mouse were friend forever and ever.














The reason we are doing this work is because we are learning to use good vocab.

Maui and the GIANT Fish !!!

One day many many many years ago there was a group of brothers that would go fishing and always return with a great amount of fish.Those brothers had one younger brother named Maui,that they would not allow to came with them because he would just get in the way and he is so skinny they might mistake him for bait...Maui was not happy that he couldn’t go fishing so he thought of a good Strategy.

That night Maui got some flax and weaved it together then added one of his great ancestors Jawbone for the hook.That same night Maui camouflaged himself in the bottom of the canoe and stayed there till morning and his brothers came out and started to push the waka into the waster one of the brothers said “one of you boys must not be helping as much because the waka is heavier than normal.

The brothers soon got the waka into the water and paddled out to sea to catch some fish.When Maui heard the anchor drop he knew that they were to far out to turn back now so he revealed himself.When he revealed himself the brothers said “This is the reason we haven’t caught any fish”Maui stood up strong and said “today you are going to catch more fish than you ever have just put your lines down when I start my karakia”.So Maui started his karakia and all his brothers put their lines down instantly fish started attacking their line and within a few minutes their boat had a sufficient amount of fish.When they said they had enough fish Maui said “ wait it is my turn to fish now”the brothers cracked up laughing and laughed even harder when he pulled out his line.Maui just ignored the laughter and asked for some bait and they laughed harder than they ever had before Maui punched himself in the nose and smothered blood all over the jawbone and threw it out…..Suddenly the waka started to move further and further out to sea and all Maui's brothers screamed “CUT THE HOOK MAUI CUT THE HOOK!!!!!!”
Maui continued to pull the line in and soon there was a huge fish on the waka the biggest fish Maui and his brothers had ever seen…..

Maui and his brother brought all the fish onto land and the whole tribe were say that Maui was the most culminating fisherman ever.Maui's brothers started cutting out huge pieces of the fish and started claiming pieces of the fish and the whole tribe realize how acquisitive and greedy Maui's brother were...

Moana legends

Moana


Moana is a future tribal leader from the fictional island of Motunui.Moana sets off on a adventure to try and find maui to convince him to replace the heart of Ti fiti.





Maui


Maui is a Demi god and takes the heart of ti fiti moana finds him and convinces him to replace the heart on one condition moana has to help maui find his magical hook they steal the magic hook from a evil under water sea snail.In the end after a couple of tries they replace the heart and make peace.

Maui's fish hook is a powerful weapon it give you the power to shapeshift.





When maui's fish hook gets close to broken the hook starts to play up and turn him into random thing at any time.When he is trying to give Ti fiti her heart the hook breaks and he is upset but Te fiti gives him a new one...

Rata and the Totara tree

Hundreds of years ago there was a man named Rata he was a great waka maker one day the chief wanted a waka made and went to Rata and asked him to make a waka…





Rata went into the forest to find the best and tallest looking Totara tree when he found the perfect tree he and his workers started to cut it down with their axes.When they came back the next morning when Rata went to the Totara tree it had stood up and connected to its roots again.

Rata and the workers were really confused but they went through with all the hard work again and cut it down but the same thing happened overnight the tree came back to life…





Rata was very frustrated he thought and thought and thought and then 

realised he didn’t thank tone of anyone for the amazing tree he just went and destroyed the trees life. Rata thought of a chant for Tane then went to do it…
















This time when Rata went to cut the tree down it stayed down overnight so in the he started to make a waka for the chief and was really successful….
